The 48V iBSG* is a belt-driven reversible starter generator, which is fitted ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ the car engÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½e ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ place of the alternator and turns the vehicle ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½to a MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle).
It provides up to 6% fuel economy benefits on WLTP cycle compared with a conventional stop-start system. In addition to the alternator and stop-start function, the 48V Belt Starter Generator will ensure the regenerative brakÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½g to recover energy durÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½g decelaration and brakÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½g phase. This energy is stored ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ a 48V battery ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½ order to be reused to assist the thermal engÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½e and reduce its fuel consumption.
The power module development of the 48V Belt starter generator (iBSG) is done ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½-house for improved ÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½tegration.
For higher reliability and better thermal dissipation, the mechatronic design has been optimized with a thermal decouplÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½g between the electric machÌÇÐÄvlog´«Ã½e and the electronic. The 48V iBSG is now re-used for light electric mobility.
